Blue Monday - 3/1 - Plantation

Happy Blue Monday to everyone! Smiling Sally has lots of company today as she hosts her Monday party. Be sure to check out all the participants!

I don't think I've done a blog post in forever! Things have been unusually hectic here this past week. Some of it we created, other things were created for us!

My dad isn't doing well, we've had numerous self-created projects, OnlySon and SweetPea came in on Friday, I got sick...and we hosted a 90th birthday party for my MIL on Sunday. How was your week? ;-)

I'll post some pictures of the party for Friday Show and Tell and pull my act back together this week.

So, for Blue Monday, how about looking at my favorite plantation - Nottoway. It is the largest standing plantation in the South and is located outside of Baton Rouge.

I have toured it numerous times and I'm ready to go back! See the BLUE sky?

Construction of Nottoway was completed in 1859 at an estimated $80,000.

Nottoway has 64 rooms in its three floors, six interior staircases, three modern bathrooms, 22 massive square columns, 165 doors and 200 windows.

My favorite is the White Ballroom. It is popular room now for wedding receptions.

The plaster work is stunning! Click to enlarge.

Another plantation we have enjoy is San Francisco. It is every colorful!

Those old plantation homes are fantastic! I love to tour old homes when we travel, unfortunately, my hubby doesn't. Thanks to the internet, I can take virtual tours! Hope you have a good week.

Beautiful plantation homes. I'm hoping to see some when we go to Savannah.

I didn't see your walkway post until just now! It's beautiful. I like the way you edged it.

What a beautiful home. Can you imagine putting up drapes for all those windows and so many rooms too. I really think that white reception room is lovely too...so delicate and flowing..I can just imagine the warm breezes flowing through one of those many windows...romantic.

thank you for sharing

I hope you are feeling better soon! I love driving down plantation row. Have not been down there in at least 20 years. Took many photos there once.

Beautiful photos. Happy Blue Monday!

Wow! The ballroom is wonderful...what a delightful home. Wonder what $80,000 then would be now?
Your Dad continues to be in our prayers.

These are so gorgeously elaborate. I have never had a chance to tour the great southern plantations and I've always wanted to.
