Show and Tell Friday 2/13 - Silver and Mercury Glass

It's hard to believe another Friday has rolled around! After you spend a little time with me (and I love those comments!), stroll over the Kelli's at There is no place like home". There really is no place like your own home is there?

It's been quite a week here. Daddy's surgery was last Thurs. He's still having some issues so still staying with us. We're also trying to get him moved into a new house so it's been "interesting".

Today, let's go into my kitchen. We really live in this area of the house...the kitchen and hearth room. It's February...so that means I've pulled out the mercury glass and most anything silver. I'm not a gold person. I love the sparkle of silver!

On the island, I used my square silver cake stand.

The cupids were gold but several years ago I sprayed them silver. One cupid holds a bouquet of flowers:

and the other is looking at a bird in his hand.

You can see the mercury glass candle sticks (Hobby Lobby years ago), mercury glass votive cups (JC Penney's BIG sale), hearts, salt and pepper, and little beads.

The center mercury glass holder has the cutest little heart etched glass votive. These were from Home Interiors 100 years ago.

The silver butter dish belonged to my husband's aunt who passed away last year. Her daughter was sweet and offered it to us as a memento. Oh my, if you could have known Aunt Doris. One of her favorite sayings if surprised was "blow me down Popeye!". We still say that and laugh!

The little silver tray was used at our wedding 300 years ago (ok, more like 33).

I used black placemats (Dillards, super cheap), silver fleur-de-lis chargers (eBay) and my Mason Vista transferware (auction).

I've shown you the LOVE etched candle several weeks ago...1/2 price from Hobby Lobby.

I found the little fleur-de-lis basket in a local shop. I put my napkins in there with little mother of pearl napkin rings.

If you look over in the Hearth room, you can see the library table. I've got a silver cupid (Hobby Lobby years ago) in a cloche. It's sitting on the cutest little Bordallo pink cake stand (Marshall's).

Now, here's a shot of real life. I keep my laptop on the Island. From here, I can see the tv, Mr. Dumpling in the recliner, Boudreaux in his lap (where else would he be?) and see outside the French doors.

Have a wonderful Valentine's Day with your honey, your grandchild, your best friend...or just treat yourself special!

Hey Judy Bug! Well, it goes without saying that I love your red and white transferware! But it is that silver cake stand that has caught my eye! It is so nice that you have found a way to use it all the time. It is too pretty to be hidden away! I have been lusting after one ever since I saw the one at my daughter's wedding! Your little cupids are precious! Lovely post...Debbie

Judy,,

I just love your home, everything in it. I'm with you on the silver but I definatly do not have as much as you!

I also love Mercury Glass but I didn't know you could get it at Hobbie Lobby. I know you go there a lot & I keep meaning to. I will have to win the lottery to get all the things I want I'm sure!!

Just too much to say about all the things I love in your post. Let's just say I love all of your collectables!~
