Pink Saturday - Dec. 6, 2008

I'm so happy to be participating in another Pink Saturday. I just love seeing all the pink treasures out there! Be sure to visit Beverly, the "hostess with the mostess" of this event.

Today, I gathered a variety of smaller treasures out of the china cabinet. First, we'll look at the main treasure of today and that is my grandmother and her pink lemonade pitcher.

My grandmother, Ma Vera, was a huge influence on my life. I just lost her this past August at the age of 95. She was my genealogy buddy in her later years and a joy in my life always. You can read more about her if you're interested here: Turning Judy into a Lady.

She had this lovely pink lemonade pitcher for as long as I remember. I love to think of her using it and serving lemonade or sweet tea to the family. I think the lemonade pitchers are really neat because they have the little lid on top. I have several but none as special as this one!

My hubby, or Mr. Dumpling in blogland, collects oil/kerosene lamps. They are everywhere. I must admit, he does have some pretty ones. I like "small" things. It's something about the miniature size that appeals to me. Here's a few miniature items we enjoy!

In the picture below is his pink miniature Greek Key oil lamp. It's about 9 1/2" tall. If you look closely, you can see the Greek key pattern about the top and bottom.

Also in the picture are individual pink Depression glass salt and pepper shakers.

The Petite Lady is Sara by Royal Doulton. She only stands 4" tall and I use her in a lot of table settings with two others I have.

Last, but not least, is a pink head vase. I'm new at collecting these. I'm actually looking for some "imperfect" ones since I need 8.

I want to use them for a ladies luncheon and put one on each plate with a posy.

These are actually "florist ware" from the 1940-50's and can be quite costly. Now you know why I will settle for a few little nicks!

Happy Pink Saturday to all who visit!
