Outdoor Wednesday - 5/15 - Roses, pansies and birds!

Spring is definitely here and Outdoor Wednesday is the perfect showcase for it! Jump over to Susan's at A Southern Daydreamer for more outdoor adventures!

The weather has been pretty cool here but some lovely sunny days. Here's some pics of how the yard is progressing.



With the cooler weather, the pansies are still blooming. I just love their cheerful little faces.








The knock-out roses are starting to bloom. If you don't have knock-outs, I highly recommend them. They are disease resistant and bloom constantly!





The knock-out tree rose. I can't wait until it is in full bloom!





Even the magnolia "Little Gem" trees are loaded with blooms. I love the smell of a magnolia bloom...such a clean, crisp lemony smell.




The Stella daylilies are just loaded with buds. In a few weeks, they should be putting on quite a show.





My favorite for today? Remember the little bluebird next with the pretty blue eggs?





Well, they are hatching! Look at these little birdies singing for their supper!'

Show and Tell Friday - 3/27 - Spring and Bunnies!

It's Show and Tell Friday again! Kelly at There is No Place Like Home probably has a lot of bloggers just waiting to show off a treasure!

It's been quite a week here. Terrible storms these last few days. Trees are down everywhere! No electricity but fortunately we had a generator for basics. Worst of all, NO internet service. I thought I was dying. My hands were trembling. It just came back on so this will be a quick post. It's my bedtime!

It is definitely Spring here. My grass is so green and everything is budding. It's Spring inside too! I change my foyer table for the seasons and it's all ready for Easter!



I love the shades of these eggs and they go perfect with my other aqua colors.



I have these beads in at least 5 colors and I love to use them. These are aqua and soft green.



I found my yellow opalescent Vaseline glass candleholders while clearing things out last week. They are perfect here!



Walk around the corner and let's look in the Hearth Room. I also change the bookshelf next to the mantel for the seasons and it's Spring and bunnies!



I love the little bunnies. They are a set of 3. I bought them 100 years ago at Hobby Lobby. This year, I put a little pink and green ribbon on his neck.




See his little crackle finish?



The little girls are just adorable. This has a sparkle to it and looks like an old fashioned postcard. I bought it in Canton several years ago.



This is on the table by my chair. I love to drink my coffee and look at something pretty. This is my little brown bunny. He really is a Peter Cottontail. he's made by Raz. I have fallen in love with this company!



I started out with my pink Bordallo cake plate from Marshall's ($7.99).



Then a Wal-Mart glass plate to give me some width.



See the texture! I love that about him.




And his little basket is just perfect for ivy.



Since we're talking about bunnies, how many of you remember Bugs Bunny? Since I'm a Southern Belle, here's Bugs Bunny in Dixie. I truly do love my Yankee, I mean Northern friends and family! ;-)

Tablescape Thursday - 3/19 - Brown Polka Dots started it all.

It's another Tablescape Thursday hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. I just know this is going to be another GREAT one. I can just feel the Spring creativity in the air!

I was finally able to get to Marshall's last Saturday. Oh what fun! I always know I'm going to find something I just can't live without. I was looking for something Spring (Easter) but that's not the direction I went.

First, I spotted these placemats. I love polka dots and these are brown and white. Well, I always need 8 and Marshall's usually just has 4 of something. Not on Saturday! There were 8! Hurray!!




So I knew I would get the placemats. I have some white/beige Lenox Butler's Pantry to use on them.

HOWEVER...as I'm strolling by the dishes, I see these salad plates! Yes, they are a brown and white "type" transferware. Be still my heart. I start counting...8, yes, there are 8.



By this point, I'm almost hyperventilating. Did I mention each plate was only $1.99.

Well, my luck continued! They also had the large pitcher (2.99), a smaller pitcher ($1.99) and the tray ($3.99). Well, I just floated out of Marshall's with my treasures!



So, here's the scoop on what I put together for my Spring table:



The lavender sheer table top I used for my MIL's party over the silver cake stand. Then I put my Bordallo green cabbage platter on top of that for some green contrast.

Mr. Dumpling bought the bunny for me last year and I just adore him. He stands 23" tall and is just a stunner.



Using the polka dot placemats, I used my lavender lace chargers (JC Penney's), my green cabbage Bordallo dinner plates and my new brown plates.



I love the way the green looks like flower petals round the salad plate...see that?




The little Bordallo chicken egg cups came from Marshall's last year and the eggs were from Hobby Lobby.




Come back on Friday for Show and Tell. I've been decorating like a crazy woman and we'll do more Spring and Easter. I even have some PINK treasures for Saturday!

Eureka! I NEED that buffet!

Each year, we make our annual pilgrimage to Branson, MO and Eureka Springs, AR. For the past few years, we stay at a condo in Branson...mainly because we take Boudreaux with us. However, we always drive over to Eureka Springs for antique shopping.

There are several wonderful shops and antique malls in Eureka Springs. While shopping in 2004, George dropped me off at the Victorian Village and he went on his own adventure. When he picked me up, he was just raving about an American oak buffet in the mall. I usually tune this out because we often have different taste on furniture. That day though, he wouldn't let it go. We went back to look at it, but the mall was closed.

We ate at our favorite Italian restaurant, Emilios, and headed back to Branson. George still couldn't let the buffet go and I heard about it in detail. Long story short...we headed back to Eureka Springs the next day. Believe it or not...he was right! I fell in love with it and we purchased the buffet. Yes, we traveled not only back to Branson and down the strip but all the way home with this buffet carefully wrapped in the back of an Avalanche.

In this picture are some of my favorite dishes called Mason Vista transferware. I'll feature them in another post.

We have some wonderful memories attached to our antiques. We name them by where we bought them such as the Haskell (OK) dresser, the Carnes (TX) bookcase, the Canton (TX) pier mirror and so on. More on those later!
