It's Outdoor Wednesday again! Time just flies by doesn't it? Our host for Outdoor Wednesday is Susan over at A Southern Daydreamer. You'll find many, many more bloggers who have ventured outdoors in search of something!
Our ongoing project, which may be the project that never ends, is still not completed. It is built and the front has been primed.
The back? Not so much.
We still have to
1. Finish Priming
2. Paint - front and back
3. Prepare flower beds in front of the house and in front of the picket fence.
4. Plant climbing roses and a vine - maybe clematis - on the arbor.
5. Build a stone sidewalk from the side steps through the arbor gate.
If you missed my earlier story, I have been wanting an arbor forever. My beautiful niece had engagement pictures made last summer. When I saw the following picture, I knew I had found the arbor I wanted.
It took us a while but we finally went to Ruston, LA and measured the arbor, took numerous pictures and worked in a little antiquing along the way.
Mr. Dumpling built the arbor and I think he did an excellent job! Notice my chair. Every job needs a Supervisor so that's the Supervisor chair.
More pics as we get the flower beds completed.
These two pictures just take my breath away. I wonder how long it takes to accomplish this look?
Now I need your help. Any suggestions for roses, vines, etc., which would do well in the sun over an arbor?

Judy Bug, these pictures are beautiful! Love that arbor, and the climbing plants.
Have you thought about Confederate Jasmine? It blooms in the spring, but the green looks pretty year around. I love mine on our fence.

What a fun project to have ongoing! You are going to have so much fun planning...and planting... and ohhhh....the space will grow into the yard...and the project will never end! (which I think is wonderful)
I had to smile when I saw the one lobe white chair in the picture... I have a similar green chair that moves throughout the yard.... my sweetie calls i the supervisor's chair (LOL) cause I sit in it and come with more plans!!

What a beautiful job you are doing on this, looks like your supervisory skills are excellent! I like Sheila's suggestion for confederate jasmine. It is gorgeous when it blooms, and the scent is heavenly. It's pretty even when not in bloom, and if I can grow it anyone can, I truly have a black thumb lol. Kathy

I don't know how to grow the roses correctly but they're beautiful!
I'm in the same boat Judy bug. I have been waning one of those since we moved to our little cottage/home on the river. I have the vision. I just have to get it on paper. There is so much snow that my vision is a little blurred right now. lol
I'm sure you will get plenty of advice from the girls.

You are on your way with this project! It is lovely. I would choose a rose that blooms several times a season. The rose on my arbor only blooms once in the spring, so I planted a dream weaver on the fence to fill in the color when the arbor is green.

Pretty. I am not qualifed to tell you what to plant. I think just about everyone has one of those chairs around somewhere (if not white, maybe green). :)

I planted Honey Suckle on ours because with all of our snow we get, I love seeing at least some green all year! :-)
I love your arbor. Looks great. Mine is falling down and as soon as warm weather arrives I'm going to be out there knocking it down.
