Outdoor Wednesday 2/10 Caladiums, Crepe Myrtles and Lewis
It's been in the 70's here and I'm just dying to get out in the yard. So far, we're still trying to get my Daddy moved to his new home. I did peek in my flower beds and I see my daylilies coming up! Susan, over at A Southern Daydreamer has gathered a large crowd just waiting for you to come visit them in the Great Outdoors!
I love caladiums! We don't have a lot of shade in this yard so I keep these on the porch. I love to mix them all together!
We love the white Natchez crepe myrtles and planted several in front of the drive. Look at this one closely. One branch is white Natchez and the other branches are lavender!. Arrggg. We haven't decided what to do yet...dig it up and appreciate its uniqueness.
Between the Natchez crepe myrtles, we built a bed with Dynamite Crepe Myrtles. These are a true fire engine red. I can't wait until they grow and really put on a show!
While on vacation in Branson one year, we stumbled on this antique weathervane in a little antique store called Tuxedo Cat. He had been on an old general store in Lewisville, AR. We hadn't started building this home yet but I could just see him on a cupola. We left without him. He was just too much $$$. Well, we couldn't get him off our mind. We went back the next day, bought him, named him Lewis...and voila...he has a home now!
Boudreaux just had to get in the act today and says "Y'all come back now"! Yes, he is a genius talking dog.

Happy Outdoor Wednesday Judy Bug!
Love your crape myrtles! I would leave the one with different colors... it is unique!
I have alot of shade..so I love caladiums too! (I need to get some more bulbs)
Thanks for sharing your photos with us!
Susan
~BEAUTIFUL.
I had not seen fire engine red crepe myrtle before. It's so gorgeous! :)
Gorgeous plants and blooms. I agree, the crepe myrtle with two different colors is unique. I've seen a white-blossomed dogwood tree with pink branches grafted in. It was jaw-dropping!
Blessings, Lana
Happy OW Judybug, I love the pink and Red myrtles, they will be stunning. your little doggie is so cute looking over the sofa like that lol. Kathy.
I love crape myrtles. We have a few here, they're tall but they do not have a lot of flowers even when in bloom. We had them cut halfway and I can't wait to see if they will bloom better this year...Christine
Happy OT and I must admit we don't have such pretty plants and trees like you have. Our zone is colder of course.
Now your fur baby is so adorable. I have 4 of them also.
Love Claudie

I haven't ever seen red crepe myrtle trees before either. They are divine! Happy Outdoor Wednesday.

Judy Bug, my favorite crepe myrtle is the Natchez, and the ones that actually grow in Natchez are the most amazing things I've ever seen. About June, they are so incredible! Yours are beautiful, too, and as they age, they get even prettier! :-)
Love that Boudreaux! What a cutie pie! We'll come back to visit, Boudreaux. We always do! :-)
Happy OW!
XO,
Sheila
Thanks for the breath of spring! I really like the crape myrtle with the different color blooms, how special! Thanks for sharing these, and give good boy Boudreaux a pat, he was a very good host. Kathy
Great pictures, I love caladiums.

I love crape myrtles! I have wanted a true red for years! Thanks for posting so I will know what to look for. I like the unique mixed white and lavender. Caladiums remind me of my childhood because my grandmothers both had shady yards. :D Jewel
A Southern home has to have crepe myrtles! Now, are those pictures from last summer? Do you have caladiums right now? If so I'm very jealous. It's all brown here right now.
Oh, what gorgeous Crepe Myrtles. We had them in California, and I love them. I really like the one with the white and purple mix. I would keep it. And Boudreaux is just too cute, and I'm sure he has wonderful things to say. Hugs, Marty
I enjoyed looking at your caladiums and crepe myrtles, two of my favorite plants, of course being a gardener I love all plants.lol Enjoyed visiting!!!
Blessings,

Your crepe myrtles are beautiful - Really like the red one. Love the weather vane.
Look at that sweet face, :)

Love your photos.. One question are you from BR? I saw the Natchez Crepe Myrtles and figured you live in BR. I am from BR, but now live in NC. Just thought I'd ask, Thanks for sharing the photos.
Some of my very favorites too...crepe myrtles and caladiums! The fire engine red is breathtaking...I planted one a couple of years ago, and its never bloomed as profusely as the more "normal" colored varieties, but I see yours is FULL of stunning red blooms...lucky you! Your green thumb is greener than mine...but it gives me hope that maybe my red crepe will someday become more lush. :-) And Boudreaux is just the cutest! :-)
Such pretty pictures! Your little Boudreaux is too cute!!
Your pics are so inspiring. As a result, I am going to make a stop to pick up so bulbs. :-) Lucy
