We witnessed a MIRACLE this week

In our very small community, everyone knows everyone's business. Does that sound like a bad thing? Sometimes...it can be.

BUT when there is a physical, mental or emotional need, it is a blessing beyond measure. This week, a dear friend (personal and church) had problems after knee surgery. Within a week, this friend, younger than me, was scheduled for a foot amputation or more.

It was just unacceptable to comprehend and a community began to pray. All faiths, all beliefs...joined together to pray for a miracle.

Hold on to your seats! She was taken into surgery for the amputation...and the Dr. came back out shortly. Good news? Bad news? You know don't you? He found healthy skin where he thought to be all dead. His words were "Amazing".

Amazing? Miracles are always amazing!

She has a very long road ahead of healing and even some rehab...but she walked on that leg yesterday. The leg she wasn't supposed to have.

God is good. All the time.

Blue Monday - 3/9 - Haint Blue and other Blueness

Happy Blue Monday! Cruise on over to Smiling Sally's to soak up the Blueness of today.

I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but I don't do a lot of blue. I do have a few things around that I'll make pics of but we'll save them for later.

Let's talk about Haint Blue. Have you heard of Haint Blue? Here's a teaser!



You will find Haint Blue mostly in the southern states. It has spiritual and cultural ties. We first noticed the blue ceilings on our 2000 trip to Charleston, SC. So many of the older homes and mansions have this lovely shade on blue on their porch ceiling. Some even use the shade on doors and shutters.




Why you ask? Well, it gets interesting. It is believed the blue reminds flies, bees, wasps, etc. of the sky. Supposedly, they won't build a nest on a blue ceiling.

Some believe Haint Blue will keep away evil spirits. Hmmm. How about some pictures of not only Haint Blue but some lovely blue homes?









While in Charleston, we were intrigued with Rainbow Row. What lovely "painted ladies". Built in the 1700's, they were an ugly gray color for years and years. They were painted these lovely colors including BLUE during a restoration project in the 1940's.
