Friday Show and Tell - 2/6 - Old prints and mirrors

Today is Show and Tell Friday. After you finish here...run over to see Kelli. She's right next door at There is no place like Home. She has a house full of company today ready to Show you some treasures.

When we went to Ruston, LA to measure the arbor, we did a little antiquing. Mr. Dumpling found the cutest print he showed me. We both love antique prints and especially antique oak frames. Well, after a little haggling, we walked away with what we call a "dumpling"!

It's so hard to get a good snapshot of something under glass. The colors are so soft and pretty. We hung it over our cabinet in the living room.

On the shelf before the print is one of our Aladdin lamps. This is an alacite Aladdin Lincoln Drape. We collect oil lamps and you can see them scattered throughout the house...and even in the attic! We'll look at some of our favorites one day.

Next to the cabinet is one of my favorite mirrors.

I've had this for years. When we moved here, I wanted to bring out the pewter so I used a little "Rub n Buff" in pewter to raise the design.

I just love the top of the mirror. You can see the age in the glass but that's part of the charm to me!

I think I'm going to take a nap. Not much sleep here last night and back in the ER early this morning. Daddy's "plumbing" won't start working so we're having some issues. Please continue to remember us in your prayers.

I hope this post made sense. If it doesn't, please don't tell me!

Ya'll are in my prayers; I've been there, too. We spent so much time in and out of the hospital the past 3 years, I know all the staff by name!
Your antique mirror is beautiful,my great Aunt Pearl has a similar one I remember from my childhood.

I enjoyed your post today especially after seeing your Aladdin lamp - I have the same one on my bedroom armoir. It was an heirloom from my in-laws. Your 'dumpling' is beautiful and the little bird really caught my eye. Hope you get some rest soon.

Judy,

I love the dumpling; pastels, flowers, a bird (I have an affinity with birds as you probably know :-)

The cabinet, lamp and mirror are just gorgeous pieces. The beauty of an old mirror is how it is a little blurry, that is how you know it is truly vintage.

Have a great weekend! Of couse your dad will be in my prayers.

xoxo

I love that print and the frame. In our attic (remember my house is from 1883), we found an old steamer trunk which was filled with old frames. I wish I could find appropriate prints or photos to put in all these frames!!!
Good thoughts to your father! Y'all are still in my prayers! :D Jewel

Oh my goodness-I have the same print! It was my mom's, and I think her mom's prior to that. Mine is in a different frame.
